Yoga Poses to Kickstart Your Practice

Yoga practice has become a popular way to improve flexibility, strength, and mental awareness. 1. Mountain Stance

This pose is the core of all standing yoga poses. Though it may seem basic, it’s all about poise and posture. Start on your on the mat, then sit back on your hips and lengthen your arms forward, dropping your forehead to the mat. It’s perfect for relaxing between challenging poses or relaxing mentally when feeling mentally fatigued.

5. Vrksasana

The Tree stance is a great balance pose for newcomers. Stand tall, transfer your weight onto one foot, and place the sole of your non-weight-bearing foot on your inner thigh or calf (keeping off the knee). Bring your hands together in front of your chest or lift them above your head. This pose builds your legs, improves balance, and sharpens focus.
